A ROUGH GUIDE TO A TEACHING DAY

  • 8.00am to 8.20am - Arrive at School and introduce yourself to your contact and the Teacher Assistant you will be working with. Check the class register for student names & ensure you have an understanding of:
    - The school layout
    - The planning & resources left by the class teacher
    - The Behavior Management Policy of the class & school
    - Which pupils will be having school dinners or packed lunches
  • 8.45am - School starts, take the Register and introduce yourself to the students, ensure you let them know your expectations for the day
  • 9.10am - Literacy Hour, pupils usually swap classes for this, according to their ability levels
  • 10.10am - Assembly
  • 10.30am - Playtime, depending on the Key Stage, students will either go straight out to play, or you will need to give them snacks provided by the school
  • 10.45am - Numeracy Hour, pupils usually swap classes according to their ability levels
  • 11.45am - Pupils go back to normal classes and you teach one other curriculum lesson
  • 12.10pm - Lunch begins for Early Years and Key Stage 1 students
  • 12.30pm - Lunch begins for Key Stage 2 students
  • 1.30pm - Take the afternoon Register, and then teach afternoon curriculum subjects
  • 2.30pm - Early Years and Key Stage 1 students have short playtime
  • 3.15pm - Home time

Make sure you have seen every child collected by their parent or guardian.
All necessary marking has been done & you have left feedback for the Class Teacher.
